In their own words...........  First introduced to the world almost 20 years ago, VHT has become synonymous with excellent tone and boutique style.  When we began to add more variety to the VHT sound palette, we knew that people wouldn't be satisfied with standard run-of-the-mill designs or mediocre quality.  We wanted to create amplifiers that were truly capable of enhancing players' creativity by offering versatile, expressive products that are useful and great sounding for any style of music.  We did our initial R & D by researching classic American tube amplifier designs, from companies like K&F, Fender, Gibson, and Magnatone and then went on to explore some of the classic designs by Vox, Hiwatt and Marshall.  Inspired by some of the most historic and sought-after amp tones on the planet, the VHT engineering team worked tirelessly to design and assemble what we believe to be some of the best tube amplifiers available. The Special 6 Ultras' added gain stage provides plenty of overdrive for searing leads, bone-crushing crunch, and gristly grind, while its amazingly effective variable Watts control can reduce the volume to whisper-quiet bedroom practice levels — while maintaining the same overdriven tone, texture and dynamic feel.  It features the same unique Volume and Tone controls as the original Special 6, the same footswitchable Boost, High/Low Power switch, and a similarly mod-friendly eyelet board. In addition, it has a unique multi-position Depth control that fine-tunes the low-frequency depth; this feature allows you to carefully voice the ampÂ’s low-end to perfectly suit a wide range of guitars, pickups, speakers, and musical styles. It also features an all-tube buffered effects loop & a 6V6 output tube for sweet clean and rich overdrive tones, and to accommodate tone-seeking experimenters, it can accept a wide range of alternate output tubes also.  The Special 6 Ultra Combo and Head share the same chassis, circuit and layout design and configuration. The Special 6 Combo is loaded with a 12” VHT ChromeBack speaker.
