| East Haven, CT, October 27, 1999 -- NEATO LLC, the media labeling
company, announces the summer winner of the NEATO LabelMania contest for the most
interesting or innovative use of NEATO products. The $500 quarterly prize was awarded to
Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center, a Michigan nonprofit consulting firm that
operates a web site demonstrating more than 175 technologies used in the manufacture of
goods. Christopher Start, environmental engineer and project manager for the MMTC, and
a computer graphic hobbyist, submitted the summer's winning label design to earn the cash
award, and becomes eligible for the $5,000 annual grand prize to be awarded by NEATO in
December, 1999.
Start created a complete CD package using NEATO CD label, jewel case booklet and tray
liner products to promote the technology center's Manufacturing Efficiency Decision
Support (MEDS) web site (www.meds.mmtc.org), which
offers free to small manufacturers throughout the country a helpful database of
technologies and other cost-effective technical procedures used in manufacturing.
Start used NEATO MediaFACE software to design the label and insert products after
importing and editing images, provided by the National Institute of Standards and
Technology and Technology-Manufacturing Extension Partnership, in Adobe PhotoShop format.
"I made 400 MEDS demonstration CDs using your products," he explained,
"and I thought the NEATO labeling system was fun and easy to work with. After
printing the CD labels, booklets, and tray liners, the CDs look as professional as any CD
I have seen."
The promotional CDs were mailed to department heads at some 78 centers of the National
Institute of Standards and provided to small manufacturers that attend conferences and
trade shows on industrial technology and pollution prevention.
NEATO, the leader in media labeling, produces media packaging products for production
