TamboraThe Authentic merengue drum! The Tambora originated in Dominican Republic (where the best merengue music is played!) and Caribbean Rhythms' tamboras are produced by the islands recognized masters. This tambora feautures different skins on each end: male goat skin is used for one drum head, and the other comes from female goats who have given birth once. After carrying young to term, the belly skin stretches and thoughens and produces a darker more resonant sound. The male side of the drums is played with a heavy-gauge drumstick. The tambora usses rattan wraparound bands on eiter side, fastened with leather and 27 feet of non-stretchable nylon rope, used for tuning. The Caribbean Rhythms' tambora comes with a maintenance and tuning guide as well as a 1 year warrany on the wood shell. This wood is recycled from rum barrels a centuries-old tradition for Caribbean drummakers. The baddest Tambora on the planet. Retail Price $359.00
Jungle CongasThe Caribbean Rhythms Jungle Congas are considered the best-sounding congas available for the price. They come in 3 sizes, quinto, conga and tumbadora, and offer features that both the discerning professional and hobbyist can appreciate. By long tradition, the wood is recycled from rum barrels. Black char marks on the wood are a byproduct of the rum-making process and indicate authenticity and give the instruments a rustic appearance with no effect on the integrity of the wood. Each drum is reinforced with steel fasteners at 4 points in the drum. The rims are made of wrought iron, and feature a six-lug tuning system for a more balanced tuning of the conga. A precision-crafted wrought iron ring is screwed into the bottom for durability and balance. All congas will tighten with a standard 9/16" wrench. The wood in these congas is warranted for one year. Caribbean Rhythms uses the skins from older cattle on the quinto and conga size, while we use calf skin on the tumbadora, for a lower; more "boomy" pitch. Dimensions on the jungle congas are:
